Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit vs AEOTrack: Add-On or Dedicated Tracker?

Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is the tool many teams will try first, because they already pay Semrush. It is a real product, not a widget, and for Google's AI surfaces it has data nobody else has. It is also an add-on to a keyword-ranking platform, and it measures the AI market the way a keyword tool would. This comparison is for the team deciding whether the add-on is enough.

Where Semrush wins

Prompt volume. Semrush's index of what people actually type into AI assistants is the largest published, and its prompt-research tool tells you which questions are asked often. No dedicated tracker at this price has that. If you are choosing which questions to track, it is the best starting point in the category.

Google's surfaces. AI Overviews and AI Mode tracking is native, and it sits next to the organic ranking data for the same keywords — which is the right way to look at AI Overviews, since they draw from what already ranks.

One vendor. If the SEO team already reports out of Semrush, the AI numbers land in the same deck without a new tool to learn or justify.

Where AEOTrack wins

The engines outside Google. Claude, Perplexity and Grok are not in the Toolkit. For B2B software and technical products, ChatGPT and Perplexity are where the buyer questions are being asked, and Claude is where the technical evaluations happen.

Knowing whether a number moved. A daily ranking without a confidence range will move every day. AEOTrack reports the range and gates alerts on it.

Per-prompt citation evidence. The Toolkit tells you which of your pages earn citations. AEOTrack also tells you which other sites the engines read for each question, which of those name a competitor and not you, and what the answer said — the list you work through to change the answer.

Price at one domain. $29 against $99, before the $99 for a second user or the $60 for more prompts.

A reasonable way to use both

Several teams use Semrush's prompt research to decide which twenty questions to track, then track them in a dedicated tool that covers the engines their buyers use. That is not a sales line; it is the workflow that matches what each product is good at.

Prices and features were read from each vendor's own pages on 5 September 2026.
