AEOTrack vs the competition
Side-by-side feature comparison of the leading Answer Engine Optimization tools — engines covered, what each costs per prompt, and which turn findings into fixes. Our own column is what the product does today; the other columns were read from each vendor's public pages and may have changed since.
Competitor pricing and the feature matrix were last checked against each vendor's public pages in September 2026. It is not continuously verified — check the vendor's own site before relying on it.

Why we score topic overviews separately from direct answers
AEO tracks whether AI cites your brand when answering a specific question — tracked by question. Our GEO score is a second, separate number: whether your content is featured when AI generates a topic overview or synthesis — tracked by topic. Most tools use "GEO" as a general label for optimising for AI answers; we use it for this topic-level metric, reported alongside the question score rather than blended into it.
-
Overview presence rates are rising fast
AI engines are generating topic overviews — comprehensive, multi-source syntheses — for an increasing share of queries. Brands that appear in these overviews gain disproportionate authority and trust signals.
-
Synthesis depth signals topical authority
It's not enough to be mentioned in passing. GEO tracks how deeply your content is featured in AI-generated overviews — the more often you appear, the more your brand is treated as a definitive source.
-
Topical coverage drives long-term AI visibility
GEO overview presence is built topic by topic, not keyword by keyword. Brands with broad, deep topical coverage consistently outperform those optimizing only for specific queries.
What makes AEOTrack different
AEO + GEO, scored separately
AEO (mention and citation rate by question) and GEO (overview presence by topic) are different behaviours, so AEOTrack scores them separately instead of blending them into one number.
6 AI engines, including Claude, Grok and Google AI Mode, from $39
Claude and Grok coverage is usually an enterprise-tier feature. We track the 5 major answer engines on every plan, plus Google AI Mode from Pro (an add-on on Starter), with real API calls — each with live web search enabled, so you see what a real person would, not what the model memorized in training.
Fixes, not just findings
Other tools show you that your visibility is low. AEOTrack generates the FAQs, rewrites content sections, and produces schema markup that will actually improve it.
Try everything before you pay
Every Pro feature is unlocked for 14 days — no credit card to start. Then Starter is $39/mo for 1 website, 25 AI visibility questions, 10 GEO topics, weekly scheduled checks plus daily on 3 pinned questions and 15 on-demand re-checks a month.
Built for marketers, not just engineers
Clean dashboard, actionable recommendations, and one-click exports. No need for a dedicated SEO engineer to operate or interpret the data.
SERP + AI in one platform
Track both traditional Google rankings and AI answer engine presence from a single dashboard — without paying for two separate tools.
Transparent pricing
Starter $39/mo, Pro $99/mo, Agency $249/mo, Enterprise from $799/mo — published on our pricing page, with add-ons instead of forced upgrades and overage instead of walls. No sales calls required for self-serve plans, no annual commitment lock-in.
AI visibility tracking FAQ
What is the difference between AEO tracking and GEO tracking?
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) tracking measures whether an AI assistant names your brand when someone asks a direct question — "best AEO tracking software", for example. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) tracking measures whether your content is drawn into a broad synthesised overview on a topic, where no single brand is being asked about. They move independently: a brand can be named often in direct answers and never appear in topic overviews. AEOTrack reports the two separately rather than blending them into one number, because a blended score cannot tell you which of the two is failing.
Is AEOTrack a good alternative to Profound?
It depends on what you need to measure. Judge any tool in this category on five things: which engines it covers, whether it reports citations as well as mentions, whether results are broken down per engine or blended, whether it gives a confidence interval so you can tell a real change from run-to-run variance, and price. AEOTrack covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok, measures mentions and citations separately, reports per engine, and tracks GEO alongside AEO. The table above lists the feature-by-feature differences with the date each was verified — check it against your own requirements rather than taking any vendor's summary, including ours.
Do AI visibility tools measure citations or just mentions?
Not all of them measure both, and the difference matters. A mention means the engine named your brand, which can come from training data. A citation means the engine retrieved your page and linked it as a source. Brands commonly sit near 30% mentions and under 5% citations — the engines know who they are but do not treat their pages as evidence. If a tool reports a single "visibility" figure without separating the two, it cannot tell you which problem you have, and the two have completely different fixes.
Why does my AI visibility score change between checks?
Because AI answers are non-deterministic. Ask the same engine the same question twice and you can get different brands named, so a score from a single check is closer to noise than measurement. This is why AEOTrack runs each tracked question repeatedly and reports a rate with a confidence interval rather than one number, and why alerts fire only when a change falls outside that interval. A tool that reports a bare percentage from one run will show you movement that is not real.
