A 7-day AI visibility trial, day by day: what to do and when

A day-by-day plan for the 7-day trial: setup, the first result, the page to change on day 2, questions on day 3, the daily checks, the decision on day 6, and choosing a plan.

The trial is 7 days from when you add your website, not from sign-up, on the Starter plan’s limits, no card, with every question and topic you track checked daily while you use it. Most of the work is in the first three days. The trial covers 1 website, 25 tracked questions, 10 topics, 10 competitors and 15 on-demand re-checks on all five engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok. Agency sign-ups get the same trial. The emails the product sends follow the same order as this plan.

Day 0: setup and the first result

Add your website: that is day 0, when the 7 days start. We read it and suggest the questions buyers ask AI about businesses like yours. Edit them; the questions are the whole product. Keep the ones a buyer would type before knowing your name and drop the ones that contain it, because branded questions inflate every number. The first check runs in the background and the first result arrives about 7 minutes after you add your website: named in X of N answers, who was named instead, the sources, one quoted answer and one fix. How to read it is its own post. If you ran the free audit first, the question you used is already in the account.

Day 1: the first daily check and the rival

Every question and topic you track is checked daily while you use it: a day’s check runs when someone on your account opened AEOTrack the day before, so there is nothing to pin or schedule. The day 1 email shows one question a competitor already wins, with the answer. Add the businesses named in your answers to the competitor list, up to ten; a place or a directory is not a competitor. Share of voice and the “who is above you” line are built from that list, and the decision on day 6 is easier with them in it.

Day 2: the one page to change

The day 2 email names one page: either a page you own that the engines read without taking a recommendation from it, or a page you are missing from. It is chosen from the sources behind your answers: the plan leads with the sites AI reads when it names a rival and not you, ranked by evidence (how often the engines read each one). Do this one before anything else. Across one account’s 34 questions the engines cited 380 domains, and four of the ten most-cited pages were roundup lists (what those citations showed); the page in your email is usually one of those. The Opportunity report for the question, under Improve, is generated once per question on request and gives the detail.

Day 3: the questions

The day 3 email asks you to connect Google Search Console. It is read-only and takes one click, and the tracked questions are rebuilt from searches that actually reach your site. Also replace any question marked advice-only: those get a how-to answer that names nobody, are left out of the score, and carry a Replace action. Twenty questions buyers really ask beat twenty-five generic ones.

Days 4 and 5: make the change, then read the daily checks

Publish the fix, or send the listing request. Every question you track is checked daily while you use it, so the one you changed is in the next day’s check; keep the 15 on-demand re-checks for when you want to see a question again the same day. A third-party page has to be updated, crawled and retrieved before an answer changes, so most checks in the first week show no change, and that is information too. Watch for a citation first; engines read a page as a source before they repeat what it says.

Read every move against its ± range: answers flip from one run to the next with nothing else changed, so one row changing on its own is not yet a trend. Take the next item on the improvement plan, and share the dashboard with whoever will decide on the plan.

Day 6: the decision

The trial-ends-tomorrow email shows where you stand in AI answers with its sample, how many questions name you, the most-named rival, one quoted answer and the price. If nothing has moved, it says so rather than implying news. One week is short: the sites the engines read change over weeks, not days. That is why a paid plan comes with a week-by-week plan (Weekly plan in the app) that lays your action plan out over 4 to 6 weeks: which tasks to do each week and which pages or sites to target, an estimated score band for what typically happens if the tasks are done (an estimate, not a guarantee), and your real weekly score plotted against it. During the trial it shows week one in full and the later weeks in outline. Plans are $39, $99, $249 and $799 a month, and the plan-started email lists the plan’s limits so nothing is a surprise.

Day 7: the end, and choosing a plan

When day 7 ends, the account becomes read-only: every question, answer, source and the improvement plan stay visible, and nothing is deleted. At the end of the trial, choose a paid plan to keep tracking; nothing is charged automatically, and no card is asked for during the trial. There is no trial extension: the next step is a paid plan. An expired account runs no further checks until a plan is chosen.

What a good trial looks like

Not a high score. A good trial ends with the questions right, the rivals listed, one page changed, a daily check that shows a citation, and a plan for the next six weeks. The score follows the sources, on the engines’ schedule, not the trial’s. The methodology page explains why a first score is usually low and what the range around it means, and what to do about a score of 0 is its own post.

Frequently asked questions

What does the AEOTrack trial include?

7 days from when you add your website, on the Starter plan’s limits with no card: 1 website, 25 tracked questions, 10 topics, 10 competitors and 15 on-demand re-checks, on ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok, with every question and topic you track checked daily while you use it.

What should I do first in the trial?

On day 0, add the site, edit the suggested questions so they are ones a buyer would type before knowing your name, and read the first result, which arrives about 7 minutes after you add your website. On day 1 add the rivals named in your answers as competitors. On day 2 change the one page the email names.

What happens when the trial ends?

When day 7 ends, the account becomes read-only: every question, answer, source and the improvement plan stay visible, and nothing is deleted. At the end of the trial, choose a paid plan to keep tracking; nothing is charged automatically. There is no trial extension: the next step is a paid plan. An expired account runs no further checks until a plan is chosen.
